Pyrus communis 'Summercrisp'

Summercrisp is a medium sized pear, that when eaten green resembles Asian pears with its sweet, crisp flesh.  Harvested green it will store for a couple months.  Fireblight resistant and a good annual producer.  Ripens in mid-August.  Not a good canner, for fresh eating only.

Summercrisp was introduced from the University of Minnesota in 1986, it has been around since 1933.  Its parentage is unknown.
