- Hardiness Zone & More
Forelle pear is a small to medium sized winter pear that has a green background color, with red "trout-like" speckles. When ripe it turns a golden yellow with a bright red blush. The flesh is high quality and good for fresh eating. The fruit is known for its long keeping qualities and can be stored into the spring.
Forelle originated in Germany in the 1800s and the name means "trout" in German.
Forelle is highly blight susceptible so grow with care. Should pollinate with most other pear varieties.
