Parmar Apple
Malus domestica 'Parmar'
- Summary
- Hardiness Zone & More
Parmar has dense, yellow flesh that has a subacid flavor. It is dark yellow skinned with irregular russet patches. As a dessert apple, it is suitable for applesauce, apple butter and apple brandy.
As a warning, because of the source of these trees, there is a possibility that some Newtown Pippin may be mixed in. We have tried to sort out what we could, however with this variety it is hard to tell until the tree has fruited.
A Virginia apple from the 1700's. Legend has it that if several Parmar trees were discovered in someone's yard, they were highly suspected on growing specifically for illegal brandy production.
Ripens July to August.
