Ozark Gold is an early Golden Delicious type apple, ripening in late August to early September, a few weeks ahead of regular Golden Delicious. The fruit is very firm, golden in color, sometimes with a slight attractive blush. The flesh is mild and sub-acid. A nice all purpose apple for late inthe summer, before regular Golden Delicious ripen.
Ozark Gold originated at the Mountain Grove Experiment Station in Missouri and was introduced in 1970.
Ozark Gold is very productive with a vigorous, open, spreading tree. It is likely susceptible to fire blight.
