Lady Decorative Hard Cidre Apple
Malus domestica 'Lady'
- Summary
- Hardiness Zone & More
Lady Apple is a very unique apple. The fruit looks miniature with a glossy red cheek on a creamy yellow smooth skin. It has crisp, juicy, highly aromatic flesh that should not be peeled as much of the frgrance is in the skin. It is an excellent cider variety also. It keeps well through May, ripening late in November. It is often used in decorations as the fruit looks just like a miniature, waxed apple!
Alternate Name: Christmas Apple, Pomme d'Api
Lady Apple dates back to Roman times and was grown in royal gardens in France.
Lady Apple is a weaker growing variety and the tree will remain small and upright. Make sure to maintain vigor in it. It bears early and heavily, and can often be biennial. It is susceptible to apple scab so protect in order to produce really clean fruit.
