Idagold is a medium to large sized, oblong apple with a clear yellow skin and faint reddish blush. The flesh is rich, cream colored, somewhat course, but firm, juicy, sweet and aromatic. Idagold ripens just ahead of Rome. It has good keeping qualities and is an excellent dessert apple. The tree is vigorous and spreaing.
Idagold was introduced by the Idaho Ag Experiment Station in 1944. It is a Spitzenburg by Wagener cross.
