Prunus persica Saturn - Saturn (Peento or Donut) Peach

Saturn (Peento or Donut) Peach

Prunus persica 'Saturn'

Saturn is a white-fleshed, freestone peach with a tangy flavor. When it's pit is removed, the peach looks like a doughnut, or like Saturn's rings. The tree is vigorous, spreading, and resistant to bacterial leaf spot. Ripens in late July, early August with Redhaven. It is very hardy, along the lines of Redhaven and Reliance.

Saturn is an exotic looking "peento" peach. Peento peaches are known for their flat fruit, with very tiny or no existent pits.

Almost all peaches are self-fertile and require no pollinators. They will set heavy crops on single trees, which need heavy and aggressive thinning early in the season for best fruit size. Maintain good vigor in peaches by pruning every year, and fertilizing moderately. Aim for 1-3 feet of new growth a year. Fertilize early in the season, so that growth is well hardened off before fall and winter cold weather.
