Nova pear is a good quality, juicy pear with melting flesh.  It can be used green or ripe and is large and round.  It appears to be self-fertile and ripens in mid-season in mid-September.  it is very hardy and reported to survive down to -50 degrees.  It may have some fire blight resistance and hangs well without dropping prematurely.

Nova pear was discovered in northern New York state.
