Vinegold Cling Peach

Prunus persica 'Vinegold'
  • Summary
  • Hardiness Zone & More

Vinegold is an excellent cling-stone peach that ripens just after Redhaven.  It has very firm flesh that is excellent for canning and preserving.  Cling peaches "stick" tighter to the pit than freestone peaches, and it may take a little experience in removing the pit prior to canning, but the result is worth it.  Vinegold is bacterial spot resistant and hardy.

Vinegold is a fairly new introduction from the Canadian peach breeding program in Vineland, Ontario.

Almost all peaches are self-fertile and require no pollinators. They will set heavy crops on single trees, which need heavy and aggressive thinning early in the season for best fruit size. Maintain good vigor in peaches by pruning every year, and fertilizing moderately. Aim for 1-3 feet of new growth a year. Fertilize early in the season, so that growth is well hardened off before fall and winter cold weather.
