Blue Pearmain is a large apple with dark purplish red skin that has large lecticils and a dull bloom on the skin. The flesh is creamy white and the flavor is sweet, mild and aromatic. It is known as a good keeper and being very hardy, sometimes down to -50F. Ripens in early October in Michigan.
Blue Pearmain is of unknown heritage but is believed to have originated in Massachusetts in the 1800s.
