- Hardiness Zone & More
- » WineCrisp™ Apple is one of the newest "Co-op" apples.
Winecrisp™ is one of the newest disease resistant apples. As its name suggests, it is remeniscent of the old Winesap. It has medium sized, deep red, non-glossy fruits that ripen a couple weeks after Red Delicious in mid-October. The flesh is crisp and has a goos mix of sweet and tart. It will store for a long period. The tree is moderately vigorous and semi-spreading. It is resistant to fire blight and mildew, but somewhat susceptible to cedar apple rust.
Winescrisp™ comes from the very famous "Co-op" program which is a cooperative effort of Purdue, Rutgers, and University of Illinois.
