Shell of Alabama, is a southern variety apple that has green fruit with a crisp, somewhat tart flavor.
Developed by Mr. Green Shell, who had an apple orchard in Escambia County, Alabama and he shipped boxcars of these apples north in the late 1800's.
Self-fertile. 600-650 chill hours. Ripens mid-June to mid-July.
