The Empress plum ripens in early September and produces a deep blue fruit that is larger than the President plum. The strong, vigourous tree bears a firm, fine textured, yellow fleshed fruit.
Empress is gaining popularity and Grandpa was told by his eastern European friends that it makes an excellent brandy. Grandpa loved his brandy, but blackberry was his favorite.
Empress will set heaviler crops with another European plum or prune pollinating it, like President.
