Grandpa's European Prune
Prunus domestica 'Grandpa's Prune'
- Summary
- Hardiness Zone & More
Granpa's Prune is a Stanley type that seems to have added resistance to black knot. Seems to have almost all the same qualities as Stanley, but slightly smaller and sweeter. Self-fertile and disease resistant.
Grandson discovered Grandpa's Prune on the family farm in the late 1970's and was surprized to see it very free of black-knot. We had some budded and planted an orchard that was later abandoned, but some of the trees are still alive and well and still very free of black knot.
