Red Clapp's Pear is a highly colored strain of the regular Clapp's Favorite pear. It ripens in mid-summer and is a juicy, sweet fruit with all the good and bad qualities of its parent.

Red Clapp's pear originated as a red sport of Clapp's Favorite about 20 miles from Grandpa's home near the town of South Haven, Michigan It was discovered in 1939 and is often referred to as Kalle pear, being named after Adrian Kalle who found it.

Grow Red Clapp's just like ordinary Clapp's Favorite. It is only slightly less vigorous, but is just as susceptible to fire blight. Trim only as necessary and fertilize lightly.
