Ulster is an excellent dark sweet cherry for the east and midwest. It is more crack tolerant than most varieties and the tree is quite hardy. It ripens in early mid-season and is large, crisp, sweet and tasty.
Ulster was developed in Geneva, NY where many of the most popular dark sweet cherries for the eastern and mid-western US were developed. It was introduced in 1964.
