Connell Red is a red sport of Fireside. It has large, round, solid red fruit with has a sweet, mild and aromatic flavor like Fireside. It is great for eating and cooking. It stores well into the spring maintaining its crisp juicy texture. It ripens in October and is a heavy annual producer. Mid-season bloom.

Connell Red is a patented red sport of Fireside apple, which was bred by the University of Minnesota. It was introduced in 1957 after being discovered in Wisconsin.
Connell Red performs like Fireside. It is a weepy tip bearer. Resistant to cedar apple rust, but susceptible to scab and fire blight.
