Chisel Jersey is well known for its cider characteristics.  It offers full body, good flavor and aroma.  It is a full bittersweet type.  The fruit is greenish with a red flush.  The skin can russet and crack.  It is a very late bloomer and ripener.

Chisel Jersey is a somewhat biennial bearer, so one year you likely will have a heavy crop and the next a light crop.  The tree has narrow crotch angles, so spreading the limbs will be helpful.  Keep well pruned to allow light into the tree as high light is needed for it to develop sufficient flower buds for the following year.  It is susceptible to both fire blight and scab.
