Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked pie crust in 9 inch pie plate
  • 4 large apples (or 7 to 9 medium sized) Granny Smith, mixed with Cortland or McIntosh½
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Dash nutmeg or cloves
  • 2 Tbsp flour

TOPPING:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 stick butter

Directions: 
Follow each step carefully.
Peel, core and slice thinly half of the apples into pie crust in pie plate; mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and top apples with half of the mixture; sprinkle 1 Tbsp flour over sugar mixture; repeat with remaining apples, sugar mixture and flour.

TOPPING:
Mix brown sugar and flour, cut in butter with a fork. Crumble over top of pie.
Cover with foil and bake at 400 degrees F. for 40 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F, remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until top is golden brown.
