Black Forest Pie

Where To Cook: Stove top
- 1 baked pie shell
- 1 oz. (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate
- 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 1 ½ cups cool whip
- 21 oz. cherry pie filling, chilled
- toasted almonds, optional
In heavy saucepan, using medium-low heat melt chocolate with milk.
Remove from heat, stir in extract. Pour into bowl, chill. Beat until smooth, fold in cool whip. Pour into baked pie shell. Chill 4 hours or until set. Top with cherries and almonds.
Substitute: use 3 Tb of baker's cocoa and 1 Tb butter or oil or shortening in place of 1 oz. (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate.
Top with cherries and almonds.
