The Bubblegum Plum(R) is known for it's unique flavor when properly ripe. When Grandpa first tried it, it took him back to the good old days when he was a youngster and chewed plain old bubble gum! That's the essence that hits your taste buds when you first bite into it. The fruit is reddish bronze and the tree is a moderately vigorous and a heavy bearer of fruit. It's aromatic fruit has a rich, spicy, sweet flavor. Ripens from late August to September. It is extremely hardy.
This fruit was introduced in 1911 by Dr. N.E. Hansen at the South Dakota Experiment Station as a hybrid of the Japanese and European types.
Bubblegum Plum(R) is very hardy and prolific bearer. Should be pollinated by Pipestone or another hybrid cross.
