Novamac is very similar to McIntosh in season and flavor. The fruit is medium-large, round, mostly red over a greenish-yellow background color. The flesh is white, crisp, tender and juicy with a fine sub-acid flavor similar to a Mac. The tree is very disease resistant.
Novamac is another disease resistant apple that came out of the Nova Scotia program. It was introduced in 1978.
Novamac is highly resistant to apple scab, resistant to cedar apple rust and fire blight, but susceptible to mildew.
