Grandpa's Choice™ Zestar!(R) is a rather new variety that is gaining in excitement. It is an early season apple with excellent, dessert quality. It is very crisp and juicy with an abover average sweet/tart flavor. This apple is 60-85% read on a yellow background. It will store quite well for several weeks after being picked in late August in the midwest.

Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips Zestar!® is vigorous when planted, but as it starts producing it settles down and can become quite spurry. It has a nice spreading habit and is easy to care for. It is susceptible to scab and somewhat susceptible to fire blight.

A Little History Zestar® is another introduction from the famous University of Minnesota apple breeding program, which has introduced so many successful extra hardy apple varieties like Honeycrisp™. It has State Fair in its parentage. It is one of the only apples we know with an ! point as part of its name.
