Peaches can be fairly easy to grow, but do not expect good luck if you are trying to grow them in Hardiness Zones 4 or colder--- you are just not in stone fruit territory! Remember to prune trees adequately late in the spring to maintain vigor and to thin the fruit heavily to get good size. Try to thin to 6-10 inches between fruits on vigorous trees. Almost all peach varieties are self-fertile, so ONE tree can be planted without another variety to pollinate it without problem. J.H. Hale is the exception--- it requires a polliinator as it is NOT self-fertile.
