Evans Bali Tart Cherry
Evans Bali Tart Cherry
Prunus cerasus 'Evans Bali'
Evans Bali Tart cherry is one of the hardiest tart cherries to be found. It is a naturally compact, dwarfish tree that will withstand the cold north winters and produce an abundance of tart pie cherries which are bright red. If left on the tree to hang, they will develop more sugar and become a great snacking cherry. It is self-fertile and requires no other pollinator. It is highly productive and ripens with most other tart cherries.

Prunus cerasus 'Evans Bali' Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips
Since Evans Bali is somewhat dwarfish and compact, it does better with adequate moisture to maintain the vigor of the tree. If your soils are very sandy, be sure to make sure it gets irrigated to maintain its vigor.

A Little History about Evans Bali Tart Cherry
The true origin of Evans Bali may be a little murky, but it was introduced to the fruit growing world by Dr. Ieuan Evans, a Canadian plant developer, who apparently found it growing in a backyard in Edmonton, Alberta. Some call it just "Evans", some just "Bali", but we are taking the "safe road" in calling it "Evans Bali".
