Grandpa's Choice™ Red Gravenstein is a culinary treat! This antique variety is well known for cooking, sauce, cider and eating out of hand. It is large, with crisp white flesh and a distinct, juicy flavor. It will keep moderately well. The fruit is orangish with red striping on greenish yellow skin. It ripens late in the summer to early fall.

A Little HistorySome sources say that Graavenstein came from Italy, some say from Germany, in the early 1600's. Grandpa really doesn't know, but the name sure suggest german origins.
