EasternGlo Nectarine

Prunus persica 'EasternGlo'

EasternGlo nectarine is an excellent very early nectarine ripening about 2 weeks ahead of Redhaven peach.  The fruit is medium to large in size with proper thinning.  It is firm, freestone, yellow fleshed and has excellent flavor.   The color is almost 100% dark red.

EasternGlo came out of the Zeiger Genetics program in California, but has shown good adaptance to eastern conditions.

Nectarines are self-fertile and can be planted by themselves. Treat a nectarine just like peaches when growing. Thin early and agressively for good size. Prune every year to maintain vigor. You should seek to get between 1-3 feet of new growth a year. Over, 3 feet and you are probably fertilizing too much..
