Sam Dark Sweet Cherry
Prunus avium 'Sam'
Sam is a medium large, firm, jet-black sweet cherry that blooms later than most sweet cherries so it may escape any late spring frosts. Pollinate with Bing, Montmorency, Royal Ann, Stella or Van, as it is self-unfruitful. Would make an good pollinator for other sweet cherries though.
Developed at Summerland, British Columbia and introduced in 1953.
