Russet Beauty Apple

Malus domestica 'Russet Beauty'

Russet Beauty is a southern variety with a bronzy-golden russeting that covers an underlying green skin. Its medium grained flesh is light yellow and has strong flavors of pear with hints of vanilla and lemon. It’s a sweet-tart apple with a pear-like finish and strong aromatic flavor, good for hard ciders.

Thought to be a chance seedling cross between Cox's Orange Pippin and Golden Delicious. Identified by Indiana nurseryman, Ed Fackler, it has an indistinct origin in the 1960s.
