The Hudson's Golden Gem is a conical and elongated fruit with a smooth, uniformly dull yellow russetted skin and long stem. It has a sugary, juicy and crisp flesh with a somewhat nutty flavor that is excellent for desserts.

Discovered as a fence row seedling in Oregon and introduced by the Hudson Wholesale Nursery of Tangent, Oregon in 1931.

Large, vigorous, spreading and productive trees with a tendency toward biennial production. Cross-pollination will increase the fruitfulness. Noted disease resistance, especially to scab. Requires cross pollination. 600-1000 chill hours. Ripens in late October and can hang on the tree well into winter. Keeps in storage for three months. Fruit can sometimes crack when ripe.
