Pyrus communis 'Parker'
Parker Pear is very hardy and ripens in early September in mid-season. The fruit is medium-large, yellow-bronze with some red blush. The flesh is fine grained, tender, sweet and juicy and the visible grit cells soften with maturity. Susceptible to scab and fire blight.
Parker was introduced by the University of Minnesota in 1934 and is an open pollinated seedling of a Manchurian pear. Some consider it to be very similar to Flemish Beauty.
