Blaze Apple
Malus domestica 'Blaze'
Blaze is an earlier Jonathan-type apple that ripens about 3-4 weeks earlier in mid-summer. It is medium sized, red over a bright yellow background, attractive and smooth. The flesh is yellow, crisp, firm, juicy and good quality. It has a flavor somewhat like Jonathan but less tart. The tree is vigorous and productive. Moderately susceptible to scab and cedar apple rust, but moderately resistant to fire blight and powdery mildew.
Blaze was introduced in 1958 by the Illinois Experiment Station.
