Rainier Blush Sweet Cherry
Prunus avium 'Rainier'
- » Rainier is the most popular light, blush sweet cherry--- often seen in the produce departments in the early summer!
Grandpa's Choice™ Rainier Blush Sweet Cherry's skin color is golden yellow with a considerable amount of red blush. The fruit is very large and firm, and it's clear colored flesh has a distinctly different flavor. The tree is vigorous, hardy, and productive. Rainier is reported to be quite crack resistant, but is not as hardy in cold areas as most other blush varieties.
Rainier is extensively planted in Washington where it has made quite a name for itself. It is exceptionally large, flavorful and beautiful, and when Grandpa first saw it he ate so many he got a bellyache. This is the blush cherry most often seen in the produce department in cherry season.
