Maiden Blush is a fine heirloom summer apple that produces regular crops of flattish round yellow apples with a beautiful crimson blush.  The skins are tough, smooth and waxy and the flesh is crisp, juicy and creamy yellow.  It is great for cooking, eating fresh, drying and making cider.  It ripens in mid-August to early September over a prolonged period.  It is very hardy.

Alternate Names: Lady Blush, Maiden's Blush, Red Cheek

Maiden Blush traces back to New Jersey and was first described in the literature in the early 1800s.  It was widely grown and some of Grandpa's friends were still growing and marketing it commercially into the 1960s.
