Pyrus communis Kieffer - Kieffer Pear

Kieffer Pear

Pyrus communis 'Kieffer'

Grandpa's Nature Friendly™ Kieffer pear is an old-time favorite of pear lovers. It has large, long golden-yellow fruit often with a some crimson blush. It has crisp, juicy, white flesh that is slightly course, with a musky aroma. It is excellent for canning, baking, pear honey and preserves. It is extra hardy, but does well even in hotter climates. It is practically immune to fire blight! Ripens in mid-September to October.

We don't know the heritage of Kieffer pear, but it has been a favorite pear of many for a long time because of its many uses and ease of growth.

Kieffer is almost immune from fire blight. It is one of the few self-fruitful pears, so single trees will set great crops. It will also make a good pollinator for other pears that do need another variety to pollinate. Kieffer will grow almost anywhere and be a good producer for even the most inexperienced bakyard fruit grower.
