Poached Pears in Mulled Spiced Wine

In a large crock pot stir together sweet red wine and sugar; add pears and top with mulled spices.
Cover and cook on high until pears are "poke tender", about 2 to 3 hours.
Remove pears with slotted spoon to serving bowls over vanilla ice cream and coat with a little mulled spiced wine sauce.

· 6 pears, peeled, cored and cut in half
· 1 bottle sweet red wine
· 1 ΒΌ cup sugar
· Mulled spices for cider or wine:
· Cinnamon chips, cinnamon sticks cut into pieces
· Orange rind
· Whole cloves
· Whole Allspice
